Connie Nelson Cast as Queen Hippolyta in Wonder Woman!

It looks like there has been a slight change up in the casting for the upcoming Wonder Woman movie. Originally it was thought that Nicole Kidman would be cast to play Queen Hippolyta, mother of Wonder Woman. Today we have learned that actress Connie Nelson has been cast for the role. Gladitator actess Connie Nielsen, who previously played a Queen in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator, will play Queen Hippolyta in Warner Bros’ Wonder Woman movie. She joins a cast that includes Gadot, Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, and Ewen Bremner. The film is currently shooting in the UK and Italy and will be released in the United States on June 23, 2017. Patty Jenkins directs fro ma script written by Jason Fuchs.
Nicole Kidman was originally in the latter stages of negotations to play Wonder Woman’s mother but schedule conflicts forced WB to look elsewhere. For a time, the studio considered simply giving the Hippolyta role to Robin Wright but in the end, the studio has decided to cast Nielsen.
